Lindsay Ornstein

Lindsay co-founded OPEN Impact Real Estate after previously co-founding Transwestern’s Northeast Region in 2011. Lindsay has 20+ years experience and has collectively completed over ten million square feet of nonprofit and corporate transactions. She is the recipient of numerous awards and accolades including: Bisnow Power Women distinction and Woman of Influence by NCJW. Lindsay is a former YMWREA chairman, and she co-chairs the Dream Foundation NY Advisory Council. She has represented a broad range of clients including the Robin Hood Foundation, KIPP, Zeta Charter School, JPMorgan Chase and Li+Fung. Lindsay graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Pennsylvania, where she founded the Women’s Varsity Golf Team.

Stephen Powers

Co-Founder

Stephen is a co-founder of OPEN Impact Real Estate. He has 17 years of commercial real estate experience dedicated to serving nonprofits. Stephen has completed over eight million square feet of transactions for his nonprofit clients, while ensuring that the real estate strategy is always driven by mission and operational/programmatic goals. Stephen was nominated for the Real Estate Board of New York’s Most Ingenious Deal of the Year and recognized by Crain’s New York Business Notables in Real Estate. A creative problem-solver, he specializes in producing out-of-the box real estate solutions for his clients.

Jake Cinti

Jake has spent over a decade serving the nonprofit community. His career includes roles in real estate, social work, nonprofit management, youth development, and DE&I. His roots within the nonprofit sector give him a unique understanding of his clients’ needs, and a primary commitment to social impact. Prior to joining the OPEN team, Jake was a vice president in Transwestern’s NYC office, supporting the firm’s nonprofit clients. Before beginning his career in commercial real estate, Jake was a capacity building consultant for youth-serving nonprofits across the country. As a real estate advisor, Jake specializes in occupier solutions for non-profit tenants, with a focus on off-market opportunities and ground-up development projects. In 2020, Jake was recognized as CPE’s Stars to Watch Under 40. He serves on the board of Bloomingdale School of Music, and is a founding board member of Mobile Studios, Inc.

Patrick Robinson

Tenant Advisory

Patrick has 35+ years of experience of tenant representation focused on financial services sector. Patrick co-founded the Staubach Company in New York, and co-founded the Transwestern Northeast Region. He earned the rank of Captain in the Field Artillery Branch of the United States Army.

Alexander Smith

As Vice President, Alex leads a wide range of acquisition and disposition projects and manages their associated search and support teams. He has particular expertise in portfolio management, large dispositions, and multi-contract program hubs.

Major projects include the disposition of Rising Ground’s 30+ acre campus for $53 million and the subsequent relocation of more than 200k SF of programs. Other clients include Sheltering Arms, Good Shepherd Services, Coney Island Prep Charter School, Public Prep Charter Schools, The Door, and Selfhelp Community Services.

Prior to joining the OPEN team, Alex was a senior associate at Transwestern’s NYC office after working at MHP Real Estate Services, where he represented tenants and landlords across NYC.

Alexander is a licensed real estate salesperson in New York and an active volunteer. He is a Junior Board member of Room to Grow and volunteered with New York Common Pantry on a weekly basis during the pandemic. He earned the rank of Eagle Scout with the Boy Scouts of America.

Alexander holds a bachelor’s degree in business from Mount Saint Mary College and was a member of the Men’s Varsity Basketball team.

Jen Samel

Director of Operations and Workplace Consulting

Jen has dedicated her career to workplace, real estate, and business strategy, focusing on direct client engagement, data analytics, and business case building. She specializes in deeply understanding an organizations’ strategic direction and guiding clients on the quality, quantity, and purpose of their current and future space and portfolio.  

Prior to joining OPEN, Jen worked for companies across the corporate real estate spectrum, including Newmark, Transwestern, and HOK as a consultant and strategist. She has been involved in over 50 engagements spanning multiple industries including nonprofit, education, healthcare, government, and professional services.

Casey’s 20-year career includes key roles in real estate, finance, economic development and government agencies, an interdisciplinary blend that greatly benefits his clients. Casey previously was a director at Community Preservation Corporation where he spearheaded a fund to support black entrepreneurs. He has a background in finance and lending and experience in development and worked for the city of San Francisco. He provides a full range of tenant advisory and agency services.

Julia Fish

Prior to beginning her career in Commercial Real Estate, Julia’s professional experience spanned Art Education, nineteenth-century American History research, and policy and advocacy work with nonprofits around affordable housing and voting information access. As part of the OPEN team, Julia is a creative thinker who specializes in complicated mission-driven projects, including multi-party transactions with religious organizations. Julia graduated Summa Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa as a Danforth Scholar from Washington University in St. Louis.

Tom brings 14 years of graphic design experience to the OPEN Team.  As a self-made, award winning designer, he creates digital, web, and print designs with a keen eye on OPEN’s visual identity and mission. Prior to joining OPEN, Tom earned his chops as a graphic designer, working six years in freelance and eight years in the public relations industry.
